no apology necessary, and no offence taken

... just a preference not to be defined as a victim.

'School survivors'

ADG, I think many would prefer to be described simply as ex-pupils rather than 'school survivors'.

It was very common. When my parents were having trouble raising the fees my mother worked at St Vedast to pay them off. I'm sure that the majority of the women who prepared lunch for us, gardened, etc were either volunteers (possibly as part of their SES 'duties') or were parents in this situation. ...

Not necessarily.

obviously SES - was he SES before his child started at the school? or did he join later? Lots of people who have nothing to do with SES practice meditation or consider it to be beneficial! In fact I'm sure this is something that attracts non-SES parents, e.g. children from Indian families or others...

Grimep you are right ? what moved me to write initially was what comes across as the patronising tone of some of the stuff about women/girls, and the fact that it seems to be mainly written by men, plus the assumption that the reason more women have not posted is that they all turned into SES baby m...

Hi Grimep Don't worry, I don't feel picked on by your response to my post - at least you have read and considered it carefully. However, its isnt a 'line', it is something I believe and felt moved to say. Yes there was pressure, constant reinforcement of SES principles, and little opportunity for ov...

reply to ADG

I think the isolation was probably one of the worst things. There were many occasions when talking amongst ourselves was forbidden. Don?t forget that most of us had no friends outside of the school. Many ex-pupils here have said that when they were singled out by the teachers it was particularly dis...

ADG, I am not dissing the sorority!

I don't mean to say that in general women are less likely to share their problems, I am pointing out that there are many possible alternative reasons why people (of either sex) might not have posted here - reasons which have nothhing to do with successful indoctrination..... However, it IS a constan...

Hmm.

Shout and a different guest, I am a bit disturbed by some of the recent stuff on the subject of the girls school ? most of which seems to have been written by men, generally along the lines of how deeply brainwashed all the girls were and how this made them into a generation of automatons. This wasn...
