Re: Shutting down
Again, it's very unfortunate that you've decided to do this Daffy - is it not possible to hand over the administration of the site to someone else as Earlgrey suggested? This forum has been a godsend to so many people so quite a number of years - is there no one that could do it? Anyway - if people...

Re: SFSK Devotee
Well all I can say is that I love the School , I have complete faith in Mrs Mavro, I love attending the classes and the material makes perfect sense to me, I love going to the Residentials, and I love service. I think the problem here is all you sanctamonious whingers on this forum were not truly ch...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Hi everyone, Looking at the SFSK website http://www.schoolforselfknowledge.org ... So, this begs the question: what has the SFSK, and specifically Mrs Mavro, got to hide? Why doesn't the SFSK make similar disclosure of its provenance, connection with the Indian guru and Advaita Vedanta, administrati...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Hi Babs, If the SFSK were a corporation or registered organisation it would certainly be open to claims of misleading and deceptive advertising under Australian consumer law. But I imagine the SFSK doesn't exist as a corporate entity or charity or registered club to evade any need for accountability...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
So this story illustrates how wrong the SFSK initiation/mantra is. Firstly .. HH has said that MM never asked for permission to initiate and also HH said that he had never considered giving authority to anyone. Secondly .. The so important/special SFSK mantra .. if it was !! should be given by a qu...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
I thought it was odd that the school's official website promoted a course in western and eastern philosophy and the Advaita Vedanta that we ended up learning about was not mentioned on the website, but, at that stage, I didn't question this gap. I wanted to stay in the school and continue to benefi...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Given these outright lies are being told in a place that preaches that truth is everything, I now retract the above quote, and will try to edit it out of that post. Therefore, my advice to anyone reading this who's wondering about trying out SFSK is to go nowhere near the place. To the ones still t...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
The recent news about SFSK have caused a lot of disquiet among many people associated with the organisation. The initial reaction is, of course, to "shoot the messenger/s ". Does anyone really think that “the messenger/s” went to India just for fun and enjoyed learning this most unsavoury ...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
However, some of the responsibility must rest with those members of the Sydney SOP who followed them and helped them start up the SFSK. Did their egos deceive them into thinking they would be more important in the SFSK under the Mavros, when in fact they were only being used by them for their own e...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Thank you MW for your detailed and helpful posts. In relation to: But there is love and compassion in SFSK amongst and between many of the students and it is leaving that love and compassion which makes it so hard to leave the school. MW The “love and compassion” are much talked about in the SFSK bu...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.
It might be safer then for me to use the term "that resonates with me" (eg the Cherokee message) rather than "I think that's the truth", except SES and SFSK etc have appropriated the "resonates" term too, and now that's become loaded! Oh dear, what a minefield language...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.
The truth, imho, is that like me, you were faced with The Truth and like me, you flunked it, backed off, showed the white card, gave up, chickened out, crashed out, ran for the hills. Is that what happens when people face The Truth ? I thought The Truth is my own self, everywhere and in everything....

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
INITIATION IN SFSK I am astonished .. at myself, and everyone else currently in Nina M's school .. That no one checks anything for themselves as to the validity of things and the practises happening there. Granted that anyone, anywhere, can go to a class in any suburb and learn so called meditation...

Re: 'Secret' mantras
Hi AT, Of course, one should examine why and how they ended up in such a situation, and I can't imagine anyone not doing so. It could be that the ones who ended up being “brainwashed” were just simply more naive and trusting (which no one should take advantage of , but someone did!) or they were so ...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge
Just to say, thank you to all who have contributed to these forums, especially to the regular contributors - your openness and thoughtful assessment of SES/SFSK and related issues have been most helpful in finally putting those organisations and their self imposed gurus in a right perspective . It t...
