Re: Laughter is the best medicine

Dunno if this counts as funny (and what the parents were doing wrong I have no idea as I know a number of healthy vego's), but the enforced vegetarianism ended giving the kids so many health problems (anemia being the least of them) that my relo's were forced to start letting the kids eat meat.

Re: Technological Renaissance

Thanks Tootsie. One of my funniest stories is about painting that was done on a front room at Erasmus during a residential. It was done by teams of philosophers over the period of about a week. At the end the work was an absolute dog's breakfast -- paint spattered everywhere (floor, windows), uneve...

Re: SES RECONCILIATION: is there a list of your requirements?

So true. To anyone who knows the ways of the SES, it's glaringly obvious from the schools' website what their agenda is. If you don't know the ways of the SES, then it's not so obvious and you could easily miss it altogether. These are schools run by a cult. Their agenda is a sort of far right reli...

Re: Hugh Jackman is a member

Howdy ADG - just a note FYI, the schools in Adelaide and Canberra go by that name, though it's my understanding Hugh Jackman started in Melbourne. Hi Bella - long time no see! *waves* Intersting that schools in different states here use different names. Also, from memory, it was a Good Weekend arti...

Re: Hugh Jackman is a member

ADG, are you able to post a link to an online version of the article you have located? Bonsai I didn't see the article that Justice posted - and at least it used the correct name as used in Australia. As requested here is a link to the article I mentioned. And to quote"- In his early 20s, a fr...

Re: Hugh Jackman is a member

There have been a number of articles about Hugh Jackman being involved in the school. Most date back to 2004-2006 Results from google: http://news.google.co.uk/archivesearch?hl=en&um=1&tab=wn&q=%22hugh+jackman%22+%22school+of+practical+philosophy%22&ie=UTF-8 Bonsai I've obviously no...

Hugh Jackman is a member

Who would have thought? He also got his wife (Deborah Lee Furness) involved. Interstingly the article (printed in an aussie newspaper) reported the name as "School of Practical Philosophy" which is the American name. It's not known by that at all here. The interviewer did ask if it was lik...

Re: Mystic Guru

What I can't understand is that given that the media in other countries haven't been afraid to look at this (e.g. the Netherlands, New Zealand and I think Australia), why not the British and Irish media? I am sorry to report that the only media story on SES schools that I have seen here (Au) was in...

Links between the SES and "the Secret"? -

A poster from Oz last year pointed out the similarities between the SES and the "Secret". My SES relos are quite taken with the "Secret". Are there links between the inventors of 'the secret' and the SES? Past members maybe? Does anyone have more info? And more worrying, I have c...

Call me a cynic but this is SO much like the 'chin up get over it' line of the SES it's not funny

As to qualifications of the teachers - I can say that they are below par here in Australia. Yes they are qualified, but with a "Graduate Diploma" in teaching - which is a 1 year course that you can if you have an undergraduate degree. While there is nothing wrong with that per se - the iss...

Thanks ADG - and to you and yours, and all posters and readers, regardless of their beliefs. GB - I think the nice thing about Christmas is that many people all over the world, regardless of their religion/beliefs still celebrate it as a time for giving and family and friends and the chance to put ...
