Re: The SES and Regional Schools in England

When I joined the SES in the late 70s, it used to advertise in the Manchester Evening News, although I heard about it via an aunt who had a interest in esoteric stuff - though she had been more interested in Theosophy. Not sure if she was actually in the SES at all, or for how long, since she never ...

hmm - lots of reconizeable stuff there .. and 20 years later some of those symptoms persist :(

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

As we are so fixed in our ways people hate change, so we are in for a bumpy ride so to speak. This is where places like SES can be of assistance in helping this change by bringing into prominence the quality of nature know as Sattva. I once read a book called The Maharishi Effect where it was claim...

Isn't 2012 all about the return of the planet Niburu and the return of the Nephelim? http://churchofcriticalthinking.org/planetx.html I have spent way to much time watching this guy's Youtube channel - who'da thunk that Ally Pally was built as a Satanic temple? http://www.youtube.com/user/gorilla199

Re: Newspaper Articles

Reminds me of a quote (originally by Cromwell) after a visit by a well known author to one of the German concentration camps after the war: “I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken.” err Churchill perhaps, rather than Cromwell, no? ;) Reading it all like that d...

Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

Thinking back to my time in SES, I only ever remember consulting my tutor at the time over * changing jobs * moving flat * other studies My understanding was that the consultation process was one of confirming that the decision being taken was based on sound principles. I'm a not one to change jobs ...

Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

So we've got to be very wary of alienating potential SES escapees by attacking their moral fibre or their intelligence. Many simply won't agree that they are involved in something sinister and destructive. Even when they see the proof we show them, they really won't like being made to feel stupid w...

Classic stuff!

"I still frown on pop music. Heavy metal leads to drug-taking"

... well not in my case, unless by drug-taking you include consuming alcohol.

Re: How ‘Vedic’ is the ‘Vedic Teaching’ in SES?

I have mentioned the teacher Gangaji before on this Forum. She does seem to present the Teaching of Advaita in a manner that xseeker describes: ‘freestanding’. In other words she simply meets whoever is before her and does not seek to change them to fit certain ideas, such as ‘function’, be it gend...

Re: Enjoying the dream

I would agree with bonsai that one of the main weapons school used against anybody speaking up was the threat of ostracising them. When I attended school there was even a special group called the O group where pupils ended up if they didn't toe the line. I don't know if this practise is still curre...

Re: 'Shame on You' by Clara Salaman

The best time to indoctrinate a person in a lifetime of belief and devotion to religious dogma is when they are young. Hence the Jesuit motto "Give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man." So the blame is not on the children but on the parents who send their children to ...

Re: is the school of philosophy a cult?

Can anyone explain to me what the residentials are for? What are they supposed to achieve? Are they supposed to enlighten us more or are they to brainwash us more? Can't quite figure that one out. Can anyone else? Thanks Though I generally found it tough to drag myself away for a residential, espec...

Re: Biography of Leon MacLaren

There isn't a great deal about the Day Schools in this book and what there is, can be found mainly in the chapter entitled Waterperry House The book tells of how LM took in a number of teenage girls (English and South African) and catered for their education. It must have been a very strange experie...
