Perhaps... but then again, maybe the board were adhering to the Platonic notion (although Plato wasn't really confident of this proposition), that all knowledge is really innate. All you need is a good, Socratic, intellectual, dialectic discussion to bring it to the fore. Why bother with qualificati...

Roger Pincham's response suggests all 91 signatories are part of a group responsible for vandalism, threatening behaviour, trespassing and other 'illegal activities'. No doubt this is a pathetic attempt to brand all critics of the school as 'hardened activists' again. What a joke - albeit a highly i...

I reckon we should infiltrate public SES events (e.g. Art in Action) in the guise of the 'Real SES'. Blokes to wear beards, shabby suits and bowties, women to wear hair in buns and long skirts (no makeup), and all to wear big badges saying S ES E NLIGHTENMENT S ERVICE Then we can accost unsuspecting...

Girl eh! That'll make her achievement of moksha more tricky. Hopefully the keepers will provide a male companion to help her on her way! Anyway, small furry creatures aside and getting back on thread... As far as I'm aware, the school doesn't even really like 'classicial music' per se... in fact, as...

Ok, it?s all getting a bit much now; you can NOT claim that the sutras came into existence this century. We do NOT know that and do NOT know ALOT, yet many of us CLAIM to know an awful amount about it. It is arrogance in the extreme. I have stated MY opinion on it, and these are entirely my own bel...

Stooge; I've seen about half a dozen definitions, often occurring in the same dictionaries, of what it means. In reality its meaning is, of course, context dependent. The meaning of words is what lies behind much post-modern theory - take Jacques Derrida's 'Writing and Difference', and the wonderful...

Given the lack of willing SES/school member response to this thread on reconciliation, I gave up asking for opinions and signed the open letter. However: Chittani wrote I'd like to make a practical proposition that might help to move things forward for everyone. There are a fair number of people who...

Gosh.... the most inflammatory thing I've seen Daska call anybody on this site is "sweetie" (on the thread 'Channel 4 Television would like to hear from you' on 1st March 2006). The recipient of that remark spat their dummy so far they're still searching for it in the Australian outback somewhere! W...

If I were a plump, young, farmyard animal and received a message from Mr Wolf to cordially accept an invitation to dinner at his house, I think I'd be tempted to decline; unless I had a 12 gauge shotgun of course. Normally I would suggest that the decision to accept or refuse an invitation was a mat...

Say, Daska, Are you sure your cat wasn't so inspired by the music that it came to have a moment of 'self-realisation', as a result of which it has been able to bypass the next 6000 forms of reincarnation and is now, in its new life, currently residing in a zoo somewhere, wondering why it looks like ...

SES respect for people's privacy.... there's a contradiction in terms if ever I heard one! Whether the signatures were meant to be confidential or not, it would have been surprising if the SES members had not circulated any/all confidential information. This shameless organisation positively thrives...

taking responsibility for your actions! Thanks for your salient points For a brief moment, on the experiences thread, I thought Stanton had also agreed that the governors should take responsilibity for their actions. What a shame she retracted her statement.... I would like to hear more opinions fr...

Dear Rosemary I read your reply posted on Friday on this thread. I didn't have time to respond then, which is a shame, as I was deeply touched by the depth of your understanding and the eloquent way in which you said that the school leadership should live up to the values that it preaches. I am sorr...

Thank you for your comments Patrick If you enjoy the SES, that is entirely up to you. People can believe what they want as far as I'm concerned - as long as it doesn't affect me or others. Unfortunately, it was SES beliefs, even if they were out of date ones, that caused me and many others so much m...
