Re: The Century of the Self

O God not you again Chittani, is Lambie paying you to upset the Forum?. Beware everyone, Chittani has his own agenda, that none of us follow. But he/she is free to post. w. Have to say I disagree with you getting personal in this comment Woodgreen. Don't we all, inevitably, have our own agendas? I ...

Re: The Century of the Self

When I saw Century of the Self, I also immediately thought of the SES too and how they have sold their organisation to people. Chittani, you really think that having such powerful PR & Advertising gurus like Boddy and Sinclair at the highest levels since the 1980 has had no impact on the methods...

Re: Heaven's Gate documentary

Thanks actuallythere and bluemoon. Bluemoon, your kind of testimony is invaluable, as if people know exactly what it is they are getting involved with before they are so enmeshed in the group they find it hard to extract themselves, it may just stop them getting involved at all. Hope you are keeping...

Re: Science journal: single sex education is not better.

Yes, I have read the Science article. It is written from a policy advisory perspective. Evidence-based policy is a good idea I think. The Telegraph article gives a very good summary of the Science piece. I see the Science article also nails as "pseudoscience" the claim that boys and girls ...

Science journal: single sex education is not better.

Contrary to what the incoming chairman of the Society of Headmasters and Headmistresses of Independent Schools, David Boddy, says about single-sex education, thread here: http://www.ses-forums.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=786&start=0 single-sex education does not improve academic performance. It ...

Oops sorry Jo-Anne, I looked down the replies but I missed your last post - I see you changed your mind about the observation. Apologies.

Re: David Boddy on boys only schools - TES Connect article

This is very interesting. People's responses to JAMR's disagreement with their point of view are identical to those of the SES when disagreed with i.e. stonewalling and a refusal to engage. We appear to have come full circle. 'Animal Farm' springs to mind. It's completely different Jo-Anne. The SES...

Re: John Colet school sydney australia

Very sorry to hear that Bluegreen, and apologies, because now that you posted that, I remember we had some conversation about that here before. When I hear your story, I can understand parents who say, well my child is happy in 'x' SES school, and who can't relate to the bad things they hear about S...

Re: Another Guru in Deep Trouble

JAMR My engagement was directed at Bluemoon, to support her in her interaction with you. I thought she was being exceptionally patient and kind in response to the tone you were using with her. Unfortunately there was no way of publicly expressing support without stating what it was I was supporting ...

Re: John Colet school sydney australia

Steiner Schools have come up before on this forum, I have copied and pasted a quote I found from the link below that Bluegreen posted in 2009: http://counterknowledge.com/2009/01/ (Just checked this link and its broken I'm afraid) “Anthroposophy’s entire spiritual doctrine is founded on the root ra...

Re: John Colet school sydney australia

Thanks Concerned Mum, the ERT link was one I hadn't stumbled onto. Interestingly, Jasmine if you click on "Aims, Principles & Activities" on the ERT website then scroll down to "Founding Principles - Philosophy and Education" you can read Gilbert Mane's (HM at John Colet Sch...

Re: Another Guru in Deep Trouble

I find indirect posting a curious means of communicating information, and something I never seem to able to do. You are saying you did not find anything I said funny? Did you not crack a smile at this? I've started a few replies to you but overall I find I do not wish to engage with you JAMR. The w...

Re: The SES and Regional Schools in England

HI Woodgreen Sorry to butt in, but in this case, have to say that I think Chittani has a point. There are plenty of really valid complaints and points to be made about the SES and those involved, so it's important to stick to (as much as possible, we're all human) the facts. It undermines the valid ...

Re: Another Guru in Deep Trouble

Bluemoon - you have a very well developed muscle for responding pleasantly and playfully to someone taking a an super-humourless and very-superior attitude towards you! Your time in the SES was not wasted clearly ;) You are very patient.

Re: John Colet school sydney australia

Here's some more information on John Colet showing that it is a SES school for children (legally separate but the same philosophy) from the Education Renaissance Trust (ERT) website. The ERT is the umbrella group for the sES schools and is set up to promote the SES philosophy in schools. The idea o...
