I wouldn't compare a teacher to Hitler...Nor would I compare current pupils to dogs.

Perhaps you would prefer it if we former pupils just shut up about the past? Perhaps you feel that the reputation of St James is far more important than trivial details such as the huge damage done to so many of its former pupils? Is this what you're saying? Tom Tom, not at all. I think its importa...

Matthew, I dont believe any of your accounts should make me change how I feel about the teachers and the St James schools. After all it's the past, and believe it or not you describe a different school- many things have changed. The lenghty descriptions has only made me aware of the teachers' pasts....

Occurs to me that pupils from the later schools have absolutely not the faintest idea of life in the first years of St James. You are most correct. The closest the most recent pupils have ever gotten to know about the histroy of St James is from this message board. Some of the teachers whom we dear...

This is true, but not the whole story. The mantra, as any scholar of Sanskrit will tell you, means "pleasing" or "charming" and the prince was named because of the word's meaning. Personally, I don't think there's anything spectacular about the mantra, despite its secrecy. The sound is intrinsicall...

The Christmas dinner have got to be the best! The tomato sauce and cheesy bread bakes, crisps, squash drinks. But the decorations were the mos...

Hello girls, AAAHH! The SES lunchtime diet! For those of you who are in the UK, you may be familar with Jamie Oliver aka The Naked Chef and his quest to change the school dinners around the UK. This man certainly deserves a well-round applaud. He goes around investigating the ready made meals: sogg...

The modern history Bella described was all on the national ciriculum for my public exams. I agree with the annoyed one.. I enjoyed studying ancient history.. even studying modern history again and again does not prove to be so exciting. I don't believe children much younger than that will get any be...

more than you'd be able to cover! Now if you want to site examples of where non-classical music has been performed, then I might be persuaded that the schools are broadening their horizons a little. If as I suspect you can't, then I would suggest that you either defend the SES's position or come up...

Misty - from what I read of the syllabus at the St James school all the history offered seemed to be ancient history, except when getting into A level where they taught 19C. Do you call 19C "modern" history? A hell of a lot happened in the 20C you know. :) Well, that is something for the NATIONAL c...

Re: Sex, Marriage other nice stuff

And anyway...if we weren't meant to do it so much, then why is it so much fun. Who said you wern't meant to do it too much? I would also like to point out, that there are a lot of things that are 'fun' but are not neccessarily good. For instance, for those who love eating (chocolate) may consider i...
