The school did not at any point make clear, that actually, pausing and the meditation being done in the senior school was actually a form of mantra based TM meditation. I've been meditating for quite a few years, and nobody ever told me it was a form of TM meditation either. It was mantra meditatio...

I'm going to repost this stuff, because I certainly found it to be personal abuse. Mike chimed in briefly after it had happened, saying "if you don't like her posts, don't read them, but she's welcome here" (thanks), but if it wasn't for the efforts of Free Thinker and Ross at that time, I don't thi...

Are girls rewarded with time spent in the boys' classroom?

OK, that one actually made me LOL.

That's fine, daska. I was referring to 1980sstJ's contemptuous response to Stanton, and subsequent indifference to any offense caused, simply because Stanton was a current member of an organisation whose members had caused pain to 1980sstJ in the past. Also, and especially, the comment that there wa...

It's one thing to read frothy-mouthed blind abuse like that you posted, ADG, and another to read abuse that has been lovingly handcrafted for you, with or without expletives. One means nothing, because the person spewing it is doing just that - spewing random obscenities - and the other can hurt, be...

Um, I didn't abuse you when you were a child. Can't speak for Stanton, but I suspect she didn't either. Or did you mean Mary Pickering? Nobody is expecting you to kowtow to anyone, or ignore what happened to you, but I for one am saying that if you plan to be demanding respect, you should be prepare...

Yeah, I have little doubt Stanton posted her limited info because she thought she was doing the right thing. Hearing from someone else that a letter had been received containing blackmail with threats against children might nudge anybody to react, let alone someone who'd just been unfairly painted a...

Hi Bella, There are a few comments in response to your question. What do you make of them? There certainly seems to have been a very established approach to treating women as secondary to men in the past. I've also had this confirmed from my mother. Are you comfortable that this is no longer part o...

How is it that "practical philosophy" seems to result in the same sort (if not degree ) of withdrawl from the world of real things and human involvement, ingenuity, progress etc and takes over the whole lives of people who then neglect families, children ,society, their own cultural and intellectual...

Agreed with bonsai - this is an interesting thread for me too, foot-stamping included. Pretty instructive (not only for us, I imagine) to see the widely varying interpretations and associations with what is one of the school's fundamental areas of focus.

Heh, I did, in the original post, but it kept going on and on and on and I started to feel like Ross. OK, I'll do 25 words or less, and happily open myself to a "tsk tsk, that's not what it is at ALL" from Anton. Maybe...operating as required without internal commentary or judgement, and so without ...

It just is, nothing more, nothing less. There is nothing to DO at all. The doing itself is what is the mind play. Anton, you sound just like my tutor before meditation. *peers* Susan, is that you? ;) NYC, as Keir has pointed out, there are more than a few ideas floating around about self-realisatio...

Anton, I don't think anyone's arguing that thinking about, visualising or conceptualising anything can ever be anything other than a mental activity. Likewise, the "proclamations of self-realisation" that are being spoken of. No real arguments from me there. Some of you guys seem to be under the imp...

self-realization happens when you identify with ?the Other,? whether ?the Other? looks like you or not.

I guess she's talking about the "seeing yourself in all creatures, and all creatures in yourself". Never had that, ADG?

Nothing yet on the idea that women need to be reincarnated as men, but maybe the folks who posted that stuff aren't around so much anymore. Alban, if your questions were directed to me and not just general questions to be considered, I suppose I find them a bit patronising. Yes, I've thought about i...
