Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

Serving the Absolute = Cheap labour for SES I worked for 14 years and my wages came to nothing. What would the unions think? Exploitation, or I got what I deserved for being so gullible. Hi Tootsie, you're probably only joking calling yourself gullible, but in case you are believing it a little bit...

Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

Ha! Yes, when the FWBO started to deal with the sexual activities about their founder, I think it was an order member who asked, if it was so spiritually beneficial to have sex with the founder, how come it was only the young, good looking ones that were in need of the 'spiritual' friendship? Once p...

Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

What group was that? FWBO! (Friends of the Western Buddhist Order) Quite honestly I don't see them quite in the same camp as the SES. Involvement is much looser and there is no pressure to become more involved if you don't want to. Ultimately I left because I did not trust that the Founder's take o...

Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

Good post Witness. I have personal experience of getting involved in a group that gave me much, but ultimately I don't know if what they are teaching is in line with what they purport to be about and my involvement ended up with me compromising on my values (and being a bit of a pain in the bum to m...

Re: Clara Salaman / Live in the present

I find this all quite infuriating. I don't feel it in the past at all. I feel the past right here and now, it makes me passionate and angry and I will not suppress my emotion about it. These feelings are genuine and positive and very much in the present. What, exactly, would you like to happen? Gra...

Re: Apology

On February 13, 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologised for the hurt caused by decades of state-sponsored treatment of indigenous Australians. Listening to the speech brought tears to my eyes and many other Australians. Did saying sorry change anything here in Australia? Not really, its business...

Re: Enjoying the dream

I think Lord Acton got it right when he said "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" SES teachers are just like the rest of us, with some good and some bad inside of us. I remember from my own school days we had a teacher that was a bully by nature and enjoyed giv...

Parents against decision to merge St Davids with St James.

Hi folks, in case you haven't come across this yet. It relates to a proposal to merge a school, St David's in Staines with St James. Many of the parents are objecting but there seems to be an implication that members of the Governors of St David's are members of the SES? The site also has a letter f...

Re: Index

Cool, thanks Daffy and everyone who responded.
I'll take a good look over the Christmas holiday. I've an essay due in early January so after that, I could do some sorting.

Just to like to wish everyone a peaceful and joyful holiday as we celebrate the returning of the light!

Hello all This board has been incredibly valuable to me. I imagine it will continue to be for those who become involved with the SES or who send their kids to their schools who have those little doubts around the fringes of their minds about things they may see or hear. Or for families of those who ...

Thanks for that Bonsai. Yep its an interesting exercise in coming up with a neutral point of view that is also true to what is being described. As there is little in terms of printed reference material or source material produced by the School its hard to see how a neutral point of view can be asses...

Hi Witness
How does one make a plea for something on wikipedia? Do I email someone specific? Can you direct me to where I can make a comment? Thanks.

Chittani, what a delight to hear you again and once more jumping into the middle of the lions den as they circle you. I know you and I know you didn't come onto this site with bile or condescension - knowing you'll never please all the people all of the time go and spend time with those who love yo...

Sorry, a little embarassing to be coming on AGAIN. Just been to the movies to see Kungfu Panda - highly recommended and if you're still feeling a bit angsty Chittani, I recommend it for good simple entertainment and a laugh - and a little light wisdom. I hope you come back to at least check response...

Hiya I'm pottering in and out of the garden having a lazy day. Chittani, Tom contacted these people before any of those things you are talking about happened - which you would have known if you'd read the posting before criticising it. I have done absolutely nothing to be in anyway ashamed of. I wou...
