Here is a quote I found from a recent St James pupil, submitted 23rd Feb 2006, on the 'Our campaign against urs...' thread. it would be good for the school and the SES if the links were shown, the secrecy droped, and those that were around (especialy the governors) at the time of the abuse were repr...

Well said James. I admire you for standing up for your school. I don't have a problem with that. I am glad that you also recognise the concerns of the ex pupils too. I noticed in an earlier thread that you actually thought that those members of the school who were responsible for the past abuses sho...

Hi Tom Nice to hear from you after so many years. I appreciate what you are saying, but while love and forgiveness are nice sentiments, many feel a need for more practical action to be taken. New versus old pupils is not the issue for the majority of people here. This is a sideline of misunderstandi...

Re: agree -- next step?

I have lost all idea of what the verbal exchanges on the St James pupil's thread(s) are trying to acheive or what relevance they can have to either reform or 'reconciliation'... Some level headed and informed discussion would be appreciated. I agree Ross. I opened a thread to discuss how old and ne...

Hey St James pupil Are the fitness training punishments with Hipshon by any chance, or is he too old these days? Remember doing several hundred press-ups, tuck-jumps, sit-ups, etc. quite regularly. We had to do a couple of circuits for every day we were late.... I was late about 5 days a week! LOL N...

Thanks for the considered responses to this thread so far, whether from students, parents, SES members, or anyone else. I would like to hear some opinions on the propositions outlined in the opening post from current students, girls and boys, as well!

Agree with you that the sniping is irritating Wildone, and accept that the senior boys' school, at least, is different to that which we experienced. There seems to be a tendency for people on both sides to ignore what is being said in favour of what they think is being said. I am interested to hear ...

Jerome, I started a thread to find a reconciliation between current and ex-pupils yesterday, entitled 'towards a resolution....'. I put some propositions forward at the beginning, but as yet have had no response to them from current pupils. I am happy to hear their comments, whether they agree with ...

Thanks for the responses so far. Having started the thread I should, of course, state my own position! I will do so, but first I want to urge people to state their views on this thread. I know many have expressed their opinions on the letter and means of reconciliation elsewhere, but these are sprea...

Perhaps the new pupils visiting this site ought to try reading some of the testimonies recorded on the experiences thread. They might then laugh less loudly at those with concerns on this forum.

Towards a practical resolution for pupils past and present

From recent exchanges with the current pupils of St James, I am under the impression that there are particular areas of interest and concern that both they and the ex-pupils on this site are in agreement about. As I understand it, the newer pupils want a resolution that clears the St James schools o...

Hi Keir Sharp witted as usual I see! I entirely agree with what you say. One has only to talk to ex girl pupils, or read some of their testimonies, to see the damage that can be caused by SES doctrine. I have seen some of the posts submitted by more recent girl pupils, notably the ones on the 'sex b...

Barry Barber's apology was posted Fri Oct 22, 2004

About a year and a half ago then. Was he pushed for being decent? Or did he resign on principle?

we seem to have slipped back into attempting to rip the current school to shreads No James. That is not the objective here. The reminiscences of people on this site, I am afraid, are all too fresh in the telling. I sincerely hope you do have happy memories of your school days in 20 years time. But,...
