Points from "Questions for St James parents to ask...

The following quotes are lifted from ?Questions for St James parents to ask SES leadership. I think they sit better here. The overall aim of such a meeting must be to bring people closer together [...] Or am I missing something? (serious question) If I can clarify, I mean that if groups of people ar...

Fair point

OK Keir - point taken.

I do not see anything wrong with the thrust of this thread. Personally I believe a strong and unreserved apology is required - and soon. I accept people have waited a very very long time for this.

Domestic violence - how much?

In our case lots. The first time I was able to put this in context was in 1984 when I read "Scream quietly or the neighbours will hear" by Erin Pizzey. It was a revelation to me. I am hoping that both my mother and stepfather will post on here at some point - it is mainly their story. I suffered a g...

Errrrr... Now it's my turn to ask for moderation. No problem with good preparation - and the points that are being made here are really good ones. It is important to be able to deal with any diversionary tactics. The overall aim of such a meeting must be to bring people closer together - which invol...

More discussion required

I think this is an important thread. I believe that this site is primarily about sharing experiences and moving towards reconciliation. I am very concerned that involving lawyers will polarise the various groups represented here. However it may be unavoidable. One can safely assume that SES and St J...

Let them speak

Chittani, You are protesting too loudly. First we need to hear what people have to say. Moderation comes next. (You have to have something to moderate.) I am concerned that the effect of the "smell the coffee" SES contributions here will be to shut this thread down without giving those who want to s...

Is there a meeting actually scheduled?

Hi Free, A very good idea to have this thread. Preparation is certainly very important. And it is good, in my opinion, to get all the issues onto the table here as part of that preparation. Is a meeting actually arranged? Or is this preparation in anticipation of a meeting? Best wishes, Ben

Daffy / Goblinboy, I've noticed a few comments about David Lacey in other places - e.g. Experiences at St. Vedast (now St James) and the S.E.S. and PLEASE SUPPORT AN OPEN LETTER TO ST JAMES SCHOOLS Does it make sense to consolidate all direct comments about DL in one place - ie here. I've sent a PM ...

The organsation v the individual

Hi FT, Your opening post of this thread is an interesting topic. Those writing in Harvard Business Review and other similar journals have a lot to say on this subject under the banners of Organisational Behaviour (culture) and Leadership (individuals). Organisations are often thought of as having th...

In defence of classics

I'm not sure where this thread is leading but I'll keep writing anyway. Actually I did enjoy sanskrit - at least to the level I wrote about. When it came to developng a vocabulary I lost all interst. To me (as an amateur musician) I found the sounds fascinating - it was the first (only?) time in my ...

Hi 1980sstJ - I note that you joined this BB around the same time I did. I didn't notice any welcomes for you - so welcome from me.

Have you posted anything on here about your experiences?

Best wishes,
Ben

Hmmm - that's right - no vowels in NZ - would be a lot easier to translate into Sanskrit than Strine.

PS

PS It's after 10pm here (in Sydney this time) and I am getting up at 4.30am to take part in the Sydney BRW triathlon - a swim in the harbour, followed by bike and run. See how much I care about you all - sitting here writing when I should be sleeping...

Night night.

Pink Floyd

Hi SJ, Now you are testing me. There are others who will be able to answer this question much better but I'll have a stab. The last time I used any of this was 1977. I remember there being 25 consonants which are arranged in a 5 x 5 matrix. Each column is spoken with a different part of the mouth - ...
