One thing I do think is worth mentioning is that - at least in my experience - one hears classical music in a different centre from experiencing pop or rock. Not quite sure how to explain this - but it seems to be the case. Hence, perhaps, the impatience - it doesn't work if you turn on the internal...

Yes, I can see that might be difficult. But what a pity - as you clearly recognise. I wonder how best to separate the association? I've found that it's easier to listen to music when in company - such as at a concert or opera. Some enjoyable occasion - going with a friend and having dinner afterward...
