Re: SES Origins and Character

Humans are not necessarily superior, animals don't need to try to connect with 'spirituality' - call it what you like - do they? My cat doesn't seem to need to anyway! I wonder if all the fuss is because we have disengaged from nature and separated spirit from material life - separated somthing, bec...

Re: SES Origins and Character

This is where the SES has something to offer – in my experience – as an adult. But it is also another reason why in my opinion how the children were treated is so tragic. Because kids don’t have the circling thoughts, at least not in the same way as adults. The SES I believe have tried to bring ‘spi...

Re: SES Origins and Character

Thanks Ahamty2, for all the information. I am finding all the history of the SES very helpful to understanding how these things happen and get entrenched.

Re: SES Origins and Character

Yes I know something of the arranged marriages. How did it go in experience?! Is it 'settling'? One thing I will say which I have mentioned before is that now in London in the level I was in, the marriages are between people of about the same age, and not arranged as far as I know, and there were lo...

Re: SES Origins and Character

Funny you should mention the Taming of the Shrew because I remember even quite early on people were always trying to sell me tickets for that bloomin' play in SES! They must have got the youngsters to put it on almost every year. I always wondered what the 'hidden' message would be, not being partic...

Re: SES Origins and Character

Interesting point Tootsie. If people want to do 'endurance' tests there are plenty of things to do in that line - much more fun than washing up! In my time we didn't do that much in the line of physical work other than looking after ourselves whilst on residentials. It was the long days that made ev...

Re: SES Origins and Character

I came accross the following in a book about the Gurdjieff Work by Kathleen Riordan Speeth: " The role of physical labour in the work: '....efforts made up to and beyond the point of exhaustion may permit access to a special reservoir of enery which Gurdjieff called the "larger accumulator...

Re: SES Origins and Character

I came accross this today on one of my circular emails, and I just thought what if an organisation sought to encourage 'negative visualisation's' in certain individuals or groups of individuals, in order to suit their purposes...... 'From John Perkins’ extraordinary book Psychonavigations we read: “...

Daffy wrote: I know some people justify the physical abuse at St James and St Vedast according to the corporal punishment 'standards' of some schools in the 1970s and 1980s but "queuing with your knickers down in front of a class full of children in detention" cannot be thought acceptable ...

Re: HOW CULTS LIKE THE SES WORK!

Well Bonsai, I have thought about what you said above, and before about assessment of all the 'material' and practices used in the SES, and really I couldn't have put it better myself, and particularly as you sum up here: How long do we give them the benefit of the doubt to reform before we conclude...

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

Dear Cousin It What you said did lead to ET and Bluegreen explaining things some more (thanks to both of you), which for people like me who did not go through it, is very helpful in order to really understand. So, I don't think it matters if things get 'emotional' or 'flippant' or whatever sometimes...

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

Surely it's up to those that were harmed what they do about it, Cousin It?

Anyway, I don't feel this is for me to comment on. But many people feel so upset by what happened to many of you as children, we want you to get what you want and deserve.
