Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

I would not want anyone to feel bullied out of the forum. But can you imagine if lots of us who truly believed that if everyone on this forum converted to Islam or New Agism or paganism or Janism or Judaism (or i could go on and on and on) then they really would have a life worth living and find hap...

Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

Yes I was hoping people would stop having a go at Gerasene who has not been secretive about the problems he has been left with by his run in with SES. I would also like to say that as a neutral person on the arguments on this thread I have found Dr Alan to be the one who has been speaking in a super...

Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

Of course my life is not free of stress, pain, fear, anguish etc. And I do not mean that I have all the answers and do not need to learn. There is a wealth of learning and information to be gained from wiser people than myself, dead and alive and that is why I read and study and ask questions. But i...

Re: Mistakes against the Shankaracharya Tradition

But the Baghavad Gita was written by men. Fallible people who possessed the 'Truth' as much as any of us do. Wise men and women, learned, educated men and women, highly intelligent and experienced men and women, can teach us something. But only about facts. No-one can know any supernatural 'Truth'. ...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Hi Earlgrey Well it turns out that maybe I'm not really interested in the spiritual path, but I want to resolve my anxiety It seems to me that as you have admitted that you are more concerned about your mental health than a spiritual path, advice about that would be more useful to you than alternati...

This page is interesting. It does actually say that the societies in the list are not necessarily cults, but does list SES as an example of a group which has been investigated as a cult.

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Welcome Moxons. I think there are a few Sydney people who check in occasionally. I have certainly seen a fair bit of mention of Mr Mavro and his wife, over the last few years. I am another of the British kids from the 70s. The forum also offers a lot of support to people who are reasonably newly out...

Stillness in Schools article mentions St James

http://www.resurgence.org/magazine/article3503-stillness-in-schools.html My friend posted this on facebook. She is my yoga teacher and a Steiner mum. Thought it might be of interest. I don't know if I believe stillness can be taught to children. Particularly young children. And I don't believe that ...

Re: David Boddy on boys only schools - TES Connect article

Your opinions in this are specific and firm, so I assumed you were able to support these positions. You assumed wrong. I was giving opinions which were open to discussion and I must have worded them with more confidence than I should have (if I were in a court of law). I said "I suspect" ...

Re: David Boddy on boys only schools - TES Connect article

I was talking about primary school as my son is 5. I was not making any comments about mixed race schools as I have no experience or knowledge on the subject. My little boy is in a class in a rural school with 22 white boys and 6 white girls. Most of them have never talked to a black person. My son ...

Re: David Boddy on boys only schools - TES Connect article

I think girls are a very good influence on my little boy at school. But also, ignorance breeds predjudice. If you never meet a black person you will be frightened when you finally do and believe whatever you are told about them. If you grow up with black children all around you, you barely notice th...

Re: John Colet school sydney australia

Yes CM I remember talking with you about it back then. Thanks for your reply. I think I would have got a report if he had stayed long enough. Our Steiner school is state funded and so they have to comply with all sorts of things that others do not. (And I did at one time wonder if this would be thei...

Re: John Colet school sydney australia

I have experienced both. I went to an SES school as a child and I sent my little boy to a Steiner school, also at age 4. I do not think they are polar opposites and I am not surprised at all to see links between ERT and Steiner. What Concerned Mum said about SES and the smiling mouth and glassy eyes...
