Re: Post-Cult After Effects

I've often thought that acceptable religions are just massive cults. I don't see much difference. It's just that smaller groups that follow powerful men who tell them what to do, claiming to speak for some deity and exclude others who don't follow the same path, are called cults. Bigger ones are cal...

Re: Sex, Lies, and Grand Schemes of Thought

CU In court I'm sure you didn't mean to hold Bluemoon to ransom but that appears to be what is happening. Can't you see she is distressed at the thought that she has lost control over her own notes. You had no right to circulate them without her permission. She seems to me to be harrassed enough wit...

Relevant to today? It looks like a load of total crap to me.

Re: Steiner Schools

A rather strange thing has happened to my family in the last week. We have had to fill in applications for schools for my 4 year old for starting primary education next year. We felt it our duty to look at all the options in our area and went to look at a lovely "normal" primary school and...

I thought of this from The Two Ronnies....ha ha.

Re: HOW CULTS LIKE THE SES WORK!

Associating oneself (in one's own mind) with a Brahmin class (and seeing oneself as therefore 'special') can surely only develop a massive superego and be dangerous to others and detrimental to ones own 'spiritual' awakening? Better not to go there! Stick with humility. Like the line from the Desid...

Re: Just found you.

Welcome, I was 3 years behind you but I may have met you. Sorry you had such a terrible time. I don't think I know any adults now who would blame a child like that and not spot that there was serious neglect going on. The only thing I can imagine is that if you are living in the present moment, conc...

Interesting reading, no wonder it's contraversial!

Re: SES Origins and Character

I looked at the website about Jackie O Keefe and was chilled at what appeared to me to be a slow mental breakdown, infused with other possible brain malfunctions for some reason. Poor woman. It has led her into a world which, when she was in her "right mind" she was quite certain was flake...

Re: SES Origins and Character

I do think 'spirituality' has something to offer, but maybe it is simply about balance and observation of the power of the mind (circling thoughts I mean) can lead to getting in touch with what is described as 'stillness'. This seems to be all it is about and there are many ways to achieve this. Ho...

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

ps. don't worry Cousin It, you didn't offend me. I can understand why you asked the question, I wondered the same thing about people who will have stronger memories about it than me. People who stayed at the school beyond the age that I was when I left. Those were just my reasons for not wanting to ...

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

I am not a reliable witness. There is no record of the number of times my privates were exposed and it may have been that one time or maybe twice. It could have been more. My over-all memories are of being in the corner of the room, nose to the light switch, or outside the room, or eyes shut hands o...

Re: Coming to terms with stupidity

I will say the same as ET. I was aged 4 to aged 8 at St James during the worst years, which is around 30 years ago. My memories are not reliable evidence. The only clear ones are the ones my sister and I have talked about from time to time over the years, and the ones jogged by reading Clara's book....
