Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Welcome to the forum Babs. Your post well reflects most of my experiences. Similar to you, I became aware of much hypocrisy at the end as the whole thing started to lose its way. Perhaps this awareness grew because the class was not moving on with any new material. I don’t think I “learned” anything...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Probably people in Sydney and Canberra who want to learn about spirituality should join SFSK (or the SOP, not that I know anything about them). Enjoy the early years when there is little pressure on you to do anything other than listen to and discuss fascinating new material and devote a few minute...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

I agree fully Ella.M.C. Unique has posted a number of most important messages. None of us want to destroy or discredit the School. What we want is for those students of SFSK who have been distressed and confused by the recent news, to be able to consider their response in an atmosphere as free from ...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Reading the above posts, raising extremely pertinent issues, reminded me again that the evidence seems to be getting pretty overwhelming that Nina Mavro will not be replying any time soon, to anybody! It appears the tactic is to just remain silent in the bunker and wait for the storm to blow over. S...

Ella.M.C. wrote:When helping at the 'initiation ceremony' we had to put the students name on the back of their money envelope ..
We were told that it was only so they (MM and NM) could see how much a student valued what they were being given.

I always suspected that exactly that happened!

Re: Donald Lambie

The one thing they tried to sell ( but had not enough to sell -was love). Some temporary love bombing may have happened , then it expired. You said that extremely well woodgreen. They still think they are selling love and have no idea that whatever they're selling is not that, even if the students ...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

I am declining the invitations on the Sydney SOP 70’s thread to join in the philosophical/semantic discussion because as previously noted I am happy to leave that to others who have much more desire and ability to do so. I would prefer to get back to the reason I first came on this forum, which is t...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

In respect of there being no love or compassion in SFSK, I would reiterate MOTS’s equation that “SFSK=Mrs Mavro”. But there is love and compassion in SFSK amongst and between many of the students and it is leaving that love and compassion which makes it so hard to leave the school. And this is harde...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

Thanks MOTS. As I've mentioned before once or twice, I'm glad there are people like you who wish to engage with this daunting philosophical task, one for which I am temperamentally unsuited. I'm reminded of someone telling me once what it was like to work for the United Nations. He said that if the ...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

Hello AT, and thanks for your post. There is no need for apology as I did not take any offence at all, then or now. I was aware that you were reacting to what I said and certainly did not think you were accusing me of being a liar.To the contrary, your replies to my posts have always been most consi...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

My secondary point: words can trigger behavioural responses. In fact I was going to ask you if you said "that's a duck" whether I would be able to reply "that's the truth" without the risk of provoking a discussion about communist regime thought control, so you've answered that ...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

It might be safer then for me to use the term "that resonates with me" (eg the Cherokee message) rather than "I think that's the truth", except SES and SFSK etc have appropriated the "resonates" term too, and now that's become loaded! Oh dear, what a minefield language ...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

As soon as I posted it MOTS, I knew that's what you'd say about the 'twilight' example, lol! Fair enough, and to echo what I said to you in our private posts, all the best to you in your search for the common definition of "truth". As I also told you, I'm pleased that there are people like...

Re: Sydney SOP 70's. A Different Perspective.

In wanting to respond to some interesting points raised above, I first had to find out what an "ad hominem" argument was, and Google told me it's "person A makes claim X, person B makes an attack on person A, therefore X is false". This was useful to appreciate because it's such ...

Re: Sydney School for Self Knowledge

Thanks to Ella.M.C. and Unique for posting the truth here. How it will be received overall amongst the current SFSK students is anybody's guess perhaps. I hope it helps resolve the ambivalence about staying there in the minds of anybody with the ears to hear it.
