Re: A personal view from a parent.

many people have made sacrifices to send their children there. I know exactly how my family got on at St James, we talk about it often and I am under no illusions that it was all a bed of roses but I am sure that there was no malicious intent to damage, no intention to brainwash, teachers made mist...

Re: Apology? Contrition? Responsibility? - Boddy & SES o

Channel 4 report on St James: The following are the entire interviews (the sections that were broadcast) with David Boddy and Graham Skelcey. What they had to say begs a few questions.... David Boddy on the nature of the abuse at St James? ?There is a balance in any good education of love and reaso...

Stanton of course it changed over the years as it did in many schools.
I suppose I could start a thread where did Debenham go to school instead. I'm not very good with these boards when it comes to actually posting on them.

I have come across a number of children (mine included) from St James that are unable to complete the most basic of maths problems. It sounds as though some things don't change in 20 + years. I struggled with maths when I was there. I still had trouble with long division and multiplication when I l...

Governors in my opinion hold a key responsibility. They effectively approve or reject appointments of staff or certainly they have a say. A good leader who doesn't live or exercise the values he or she expects others to aspire to should surely fall on his sword so to speak and not cling to the shado...

Well I am the way I am. I have a tendancy for sarcasm. As to empathy I lost that at St James school years ago. Mostly my exterior outlook is as hard as nails. This protects me from ever suffering any deep offence. As to caning I'd just rather not talk about it or anything much else in detail at leas...

Planet's comment is really dumb just like her comment about spelling. No I'd actually rather not hear about boy's bare arses. Five yearolds. were you ever caned that you are making jokes about it! I was just wondering why you suggested such a thing or that such a thought could even enter someones m...

sounds bad not good not good. How would you feel if Debenham made a public apology? Maybe you could start a thread that goes into the statistics of the beatings. I think it warrents one I think it would be slightly macabre to produce a statistical analysis unless this is something that would partic...

Planet...everyone has an axe to grind on this site. That observation is a non sequiter. (spelling?) Good to see you agree with something. Then we can chop wood together and feed the fire with our extra sharp axes. Obviously the spelling issues on this board are possibly due to a lack of basic educa...

Whitedevil, I can kind of see what your saying but it seems some have to axe to grind and from my own knowledge I can think of more than a few persons that I knew that were treated badly (and in a way that seems unbelievable today) by both teachers and sometimes their fellow pupils. If their anger h...

Maybe the "cloak of anonymity" was too heavy to lift or the "shadows of the past" just didn't appear. Or it just wasn't worth the effort. Well they are hardly going to look under the "cloak" or in the "shadows" unless somebody would actually make a formal complaint. Generally these agencies have bet...

I doubt they will find anything today. But it depends what they are looking for and how hard they look. Also if they think its for some reason in the "public interest" they will look even harder. But I expect they will probably look under the "cloak of anonymity" and the "shadows of the past" to see...

Dear Mr Sam Hyde, I hope you won't take offence at my next comment but providing a nice inventory of IT equipment on a public web site with detailed information including locations is not really a good idea in todays world. Its nice to know something has changed on the IT front. Unfortunately I star...

What attitude is being portrayed by all of you???? I'm merely protecting myself and my school with as well as I've got. All I hear is equally strong opposition coming from a load of people who really don?t appreciate 2006 St James for what it is. Re: singing teacher, wouldn?t you shout "SING" if ev...
