The Waterperry Declaration

Postby sly_gryphon » Wed Jul 19, 2006 1:30 pm

As a general discussion, I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the Waterperry Declaration --

A genuine attempt? Valid economics? A cult trying to gain some good publicity? An eastern (Hindu) religion simply misunderstood by the west? An empty gesture?

I brought this up in the context of another thread.

I believe I said how surprised I was to see it. And someone else said yes, but really, it's rather hollow given that no meaningful action is taken by the school to attempt to bring such principles to real life (or the outside community).

Again, I'm brought back to the idea of service, and that service outside the small School community is what's needed to help the world. Not polishing brass doorknobs in a $5 million house.
Here's the page where I brought it up.
