Why is is so quiet in here?

Postby bonsai » Wed Oct 04, 2006 8:37 am

Where is everyone?

Well given that no one here has anything to report I can only imagine that absolutely nothing has happened and that once again the SES and their associated organisations are trying to simply batten down the hatches and ride out the storm.

I take it we have heard nothing from the Pincham or his governors about the changes or reforms of governance that the schools were looking into?

Yeah, looks like they're giving us the silent treatment again. I emailed St James over a week ago asking whether any teachers named by Townend as mistreating students were still working there. I was told that the message has been passed on to Boddy but have heard nothing since. It does look like the whole Truth and Reconciliation process really is the sham that people predicted.

School terms have definitely started in the UK and even St James will be back now as the terms start in September.

As to where the news re expected changes and governors, well it appears to have gone very quiet on this front.

I just don't understand how they expect that this will all go away without them taking some positive action. Yes it may all go quiet for a while but the next time something raises the issue you have everything pent up from before.

The SES has not changed that significantly since the publication of the Secret Cult and the concerns about its motives and its effects on people are still present today

It's never been this quiet before! It would be nice to think that all former pupils have achieved reconciliation with their former teachers, forgiven and forgotten, and are happily getting on with their lives. But http://www.iirep.com/page10.htm tells a different story.

Any news from anyone as to where the reconciliation process is at, if there really is such a process?

I haven't been here in ages either. During the period that the board was down I just got out of the habit of popping in here.

This evening I was walking up Marylebone Lane and I passed the SES building in Mandeville Place ... It still feels wierd to look in and actually see a computer screen on the desk in the reception area. LOL!

BTW I've seen a lot more advertising recently for the Economics side of the school - on the tube platforms for the first time in a while certainly (more than a few years since I last saw them there). Of course around Mandeville Place there are quite a few posters for both the Philosophy and Economics courses. There's also a poster for some sort of World Youth conference thing at Waterperry, which caught my eye because the advert actually uses the face of a coloured child. Can't see any info about it on the SES website ... but I do notice that Art in Action will be back at Waterperry again this year.

It worries me just how quiet it is in here.

Certainly the SES seem to be up to their old trick of keeping quiet and hoping it all passes and it seems to be working at the moment.

The outage on this site certainly did knock a lot of the steam out of what was going on here. I do hope that people will come back and we can get the processes going again for the benefit of all concerned.

PS I notice that about nearly 400 people have registered with the site since december last year and not one has posted anything yet. How bizarre! I do know that it can take quite a lot of courage to step up and post and to those that wish to there are some people here that are going to read what you have to say.

Actually, almost all registrations (>95%) in the last 12 months have been by spammers who have no intention of contributing. This is how I explained the problem in one of the sticky threads in this forum:
Daffy wrote:New user registrations containing links to irrelevant external web sites will be deleted immediately without notice.

Over the past three months around 95% of new user registrations have been spammers. Their sole purpose in registering is not to participate in this board, but to display a link to another site in their user details and improve their Google page ranking (see http://www.google.com/technology/ for an explanation). They have all been deleted immediately.

Most of these sites sell pornography, illegal drugs or other questionable products and services. Some sites appear to be innocuous but are cleverly disguised to link to undesirable sites or improve their page ranking.

Please therefore note that any new registration containing any link to an external site is likely to be deleted immediately without notice. The only exceptions are where it is obvious that the other site has some connection with the subject matter of this board (eg SES, Scientology), or it is a genuine personal site.

Unfortunately the trickle of spam registrations quickly became a deluge, and it was too time-consuming to delete them. (Due to inadequacies in the software, bulk-deletion of users is not possible, so it has to be done individually for each user by a multiple-step procedure.) The number of 'genuine' registrations in the last 12 months is probably around a dozen.
