How helpful is this?
Is anyone who is asked 'Are you asleep?' going to know how to answer? Particularly on this forum where such a question is ambiguous, loaded and accusatory.
Who is to say what is 'the right way'?
Why should anyone take the people you mentioned's experience (whoever they are) as anything but two people's personal, subjective interpretation of their own feelings, thoughts and emotions in some situation that they probably entered with expectations and biases? They may or may not have thought it was divine...I very much doubt I would. Because I question everything. Even the holiness of His Holiness.

HI Bluegreen ,
You are a Realised Person who needs nothing in life ,so why are you bothered about others .If you doubt his holiness I think you are Liberated and need no advice .Don't waste yours or any one else's time . Mr and Mrs Mavro consider HIS HOLINESS as a BRAND NAME and they visit him as a formality not that they learn anything from him .They threaten all those who visit His Holiness and they are duly thrown out of the school .If you doubt His Holiness you must give yourself a chance in Life to experience His DIVINITY . Go and VISIT HIM ,you might change your opinion . At the age of 90 he does Yoga , Meditates and swims twice a day , How many saints that you know do all this at this age .? Has read every scripture and travelled across the country meeting millions of people and has initiated a few millions.
After having read your comments I find you are a perfectly sane person and not insane like "ENLIGHTENED" who goes to SFSK for coffee and a piece of cake. This person is so confused in life that he has no guts to ask any question to mrs Mavro .Mrs Mavro goes to India with her HELPERS who sit if she tells them to sit and stand if she tells them to stand . They cannot question her at all ,the entire trip to visit HIS HOLINESS is planned and no one DARE change it . Even the Driver they hire is the same for the past 10 yrs and he will do whatever Mrs M tells him to do .
Don't kid yourself like the others have been doing for such a long time. Find out the truth for yourself . You will be amazed as how much of peace and happiness you get .
Take care my friend . Forget all the others who comment here go and find out for youeself .Bye . There is LIGHT at the end of this ROAD.
KRISHNA .

Krishna, you mentioned his Holiness is 90 years old. Does he have a successor? Or is there going to be another battle like there was with the Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math.

Sydneysider wrote:Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and am someone who has spent more than half of my life involved with the SFSK in Sydney. I am finding that this forum is very helpful on a number of levels. I very much value the opinions of everyone on here, as I continue to live a clearer, happier and more fulfilled life outside of the 'school' walls. It has taken much effort, courage and self-belief to become mentally 'free' from the entire experience, which I will say has had a major impact on my life. I have been reading posts from some great thinkers on this forum, namely MOTS, Dr Alan, Ella MC etc and their posts have particularly helped me wade through many doubts and questions. As has been the experience of other members on this forum, my so called "friends" at the school no longer existed upon my exit.
What I would like to know though is how can the SFSK still go on being called a "school" when real schools/universities have qualified teachers/lecturers with accredited skills by specialisation?[/
quote]

Hello Sydneysider: that's because Mickey and Nina Mavro formed a sham organization, which is more phoney religion and cult than a real school and took advantage of Australia's liberal tax laws which allowed the SFSK to function as a 'charity.'

Mickey Mavro was and Nina Mavro is a total fraud.

They misappropriated their 'teaching' from London SES when they created Sydney SOP on their own. They saw a good financial thing when they saw it, way back in 1967, which was when this corrupt couple brought the SES cancer to the good people of Australia. When they were expelled, booted out, fired, repulsed by the senior level of SOP they found themselves without any stooges, sychophants, sad disciples, hangers-on, people with real dependency issues, and no one to clean their house or pay for their air travel!!!, they shamelessly commited the same offence all over again.

As they had pinched the London SES 'material,' to start Sydney SOP, so they pinched the same material to form their knock-off fraud, the SFSK. Other forum posters have written about the outright plagerism of some writings by other spiritual teachers. The last time I logged onto the SFSK website, I was amazed that La Nina dared to refer to the revered American philosopher, Henry David Thoreau, who would roll over in his consecrated grave if he knew such spiritual frauds were using his words to legitimize their cult. Thoreau was the great thinker and non-conformist who gifted the phrase "civil disobedience" to the world. He was a great sceptic and enjoined others to question authority and regard any form of organized 'religion' with doubt. Another thing I noted about the sad SFSK website was that there are no Australians quoted.

The Mavros never had, and never got, any credentials whatsoever which would qualify themselves as teachers or leaders of anything. It was always a complete sham. They made themselves very comfortable feeding off the good will and trust of their naive students.

Follow the money. . . . have you ever seen the financials? If the ATO allows the Mavro sham to function as some sort of a learning or charitable institution, then there must be some accountability, some required AUDITS!!!, by an outside, independent CPA, not a senior student enlisted to function as the CPA for the sham school.

This forum is a great treasure and filled with the experiences of so many survivors. It's amazing the number of people to just log on and read, as well as the participating, registered members. Welcome to you, too.

Dear Sydneykatieking and tootsie ,
Hi to both of you ,first I would like to answer Tootsie's qs ,
His Holiness is going to appoint his successor as soon as he finds someone suitable to take over from him , The future is unknown and he will not leave any work incomplete .At the age of 90 he works relentlessly for 20 hrs per day to fulfill all his appointments , do his Sadhana , meet endless no of devotees , a lot of people coming from the western world also come.

I still do not understand that you all still go to sfsk which is just a CULT glorified and nina is making money in every way ,how did she buy the new premises ,obviously from school money which is registered as charitable organisatio with no profits. What happens to the school and her house when she dies ,who will get it ? probably that is the only reason many are hanging on to her for this nothing else.

SFSK may try all the tricks in the book but trying these on His Holiness is not possible as he has seen through all their games. They go to him year after year with qs that some illiterate fool has written in Hindi and waste His Holiness's time as he has said all the qs are wrongly written and he has to spend time in re phrasing them again .
Nina has to stop these tricks as both of them have tortured a lot of innocent people who are suffering till today and their lives have been completely ruined.

dear friends who are in search of TRUTH why are you all ignoring the TRUTH ??????????

Go directly to His Holiness and get all your qs answered and not from these CHEATS who are in the name of the LORD doing nothing but Cheating .

Dear Enlightened , ,
Ms have been going to India for 22 yrs only because they need a endorsement of a GURU ,neither do they follow anything , they do not understand the language , so they are just wasting his time ,His Holiness would not have entered the picture if Mr and Mrs M did not go in search of a Guru for their school and they started going after that every year with their helpers to do all their work .
Bizarre it may sound but all this would not have come into this picture if the Ms were honest people which unfortunately they are not .Being Control freaks they know nothing else so that is the only reason this sounds Bizarre.

Krishna , how exactly is Mrs M making money???, the previous school premises attracted a huge rent, and thats what most of the student fees was spent on, together with advertisng fees. She told me that her and Mr M had saved the money in order to purchase the new school premises, which had always been their goal. Now the students are benefiting from having this new premises. Its not like she has bought it for herself and is renting it out???, Where on earth are you getting you second hand information??

Dear members , looks as if all are having a break and nobody wants to confront , James Hook , Margarita , Jocelene , and the list is too long.
Nina Mavro has made so much money that she cares not for anything that she is doing leave alone answer HIS HOLINESS the material taught or the fees taken . His Holiness has clearly mentioned that no money must be taken in exchange for the knowledge given . Ms have made it a business which was never allowed by His Holiness.
Using people is a art they have mastered , right from getting driven to and fro from Canberra, school furniture made by one of their past student who also made all their library cupboards in their house they live in for which they did not pay anything .

There are two issues here; the first regards the question of whether the stipulation of a fee for teaching is allowable in the Vedantic tradition, and the second regards the question of whether that money, once paid, is used legitimately.

The first issue is resolved by simply looking at what Vedantic tradition says about payment for 'teaching'. It is, in my understanding, quite unequivocally forbidden to charge a fee for 'teaching'. Having a 'School premises' is probably not even necessary, particularly since there are now so few students left, so that is not a legitimate reason. In any case, the point remains that if Mrs Mavro wishes to depart from a tradition she claims to follow she has a bit more explaining to do over and above the usual refrain of "these injunctions are not appropriate in a Western context".

The second issue is somewhat more pressing - when students pay money to the School for 'teaching', are they getting what they paid for? I, and obviously many others, think that they most certainly do not. We have all outlined are reasons for thinking this above, so I won't repeat myself; suffice it to say that there is very little connection between the 'teaching' as advertised and the 'teaching' as actually given. Thus here too, Mrs Mavro has some more explaining to do. If her interpretation of Vedanta is so broad as to allow for concepts utterly inconsistent with it, in what sense is she teaching Vedanta?

There is of course the issue of services rendered by students to Mrs Mavro for little to no pay/consideration. It hardly seems consistent for Mrs Mavro to charge fees for her 'teaching' and then expect people to serve her for payment that rarely (if ever) exceeds a nominal sum.

Krishna , it astounds me how you have named names and have accused people, do you know these people?
Margarita happens to be a close friend, and I know for a fact that she is not as you state "hanging around to inherit Mrs M's riches".......Its preposterous, you sound extreme and alarmist...

I don't think this forum was created for the purpose of a pissing contest, or a slanging match or one-upmanship. Anything that adds to the reasonable exchange of ideas and experiences, not childish name-calling, seems to be what is called for here. One of the great values in this forum (thank you, Daffy), I have found, is that it gives SES/SOP/SFSK victims and survivors the means to speak truth to power and question the rankly foul, false 'authority' these scams rest upon.

For those rational seekers who are sick to death of gurus, holy men, masters, religion, phony schools and cults, I have found The Stoics offer sane, sensible, humanist, balanced, compassionate and mature views on how to live one's life. William Irvine has written two books on the value of Stoicism in modern life. It's not another religion!

Here's a little quote from Tom Wolfe's A Man in Full, about a man who turns to Stoicism for sanity in this modern world:

"One of the few freedoms that we have as human beings that cannot be taken away from us is the freedom to assent to what is true and to deny what is false. Nothing you can give me is worth surrendering that freedom for. After all, what is tranquility? Tranquility is a mind in accord with nature. . . ."

Best wishes

If Margarita, who has remained in the School, is not interested in Mrs Mavro's money, then it seems even more preposterous that we, who have left, were after Mrs Mavro's money. Yet again, Mrs M's theories just don't make sense. I doubt that Margarita is hanging around to inherit anything at all. I too think she is a genuine person - all I would say is that there is no reason to suggest we (the leavers) are not genuine as well. The only person who I think is disingenuous is Mrs Mavro, and that has been my view all along.

What money are we referring to???, As I have stated Mrs M has bought the premises in York Street, and the students are enjoying the beautiful new rooms.
Student fees go toward paying for the advertising which is $4000 A TERM.
Please tell me how we are being duped????
