Faith schools petition

Postby bonsai » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:08 pm

There has been a petition to 10 Downing Street requesting the abolition of faith schools in the UK. It attracted nearly 20,000 signatories making it 26th in the petitions on the petitions website.

Sadly the response from the Government shows that it is committed to its current policy of endorsing faith based education.

I would be shocked if there was any other type of response. Even if many people signed the petition, many people like faith-based schools. Even if they are not religious themselves. That would be a difficult thing to legislate.
