UK Cult Guru convicted of Rape and Assault!

.
A cult guru who raped a pretty recruit and sexually assaulted another may have attacked hundreds of women, it has been claimed after he was found guilty of rape.
Jet-setting Michael Lyons, 51, wore flowing robes, drove expensive cars and flew around the world boasting of links to the Dalai Lama. He was captured following a transatlantic operation run jointly by Scotland Yard and the FBI.

Trouble is that we read these stories and tell ourselves that we'd never do that or allow that. Even in the case of the friend who was raped by that guru, the guru persuaded the friend that the other friend was lying/attention seeking/compo seeking etc etc.

The power of hold on the mind of belief in the 'specialness' of a path or guru (and if you follow the path/guru that makes "you" special too doesn't it?) is quite awe-inspiring.

It may have something to do with the denial of current SESers of the past child-abuse* and the ongoing misleading of newcomers including the "spin" hiding the full truth about the connections between the SES and Lucca Leadership.

*edited to explain that although denial might be considered a strange word to choose as there has been an inquiry into and apology for the child abuse at St James, I think denial is a fair word as it was only the most heinous physical and emotional abuse within a particular time slot that was investigated and apologised for, there are criticisms of the terms of reference and the time frame both of the inquiry itself and the period investigated.

There has been no engagement on the question of whether the SES educational system itself was abusive; whether it is/was right to use children as guinea pigs in your philosophical games, how it was wrong to deceive parents from non-SES families, how the children post 1985 (the end date for inquiry) fared and so on.
