Dr Guttman was not a barrister as far as I believe. He was a german teacher who far preferred teaching English.

There were rumours about his impropriety that went round school that related to when he took a class to Germany. I will not comment on what the rumours are because it would only be hearsay on my part and I can not vouch for anything resembling truth.

As I understand it though his contract with St James was terminated because he refused to join the SES.

From my point of view he was a breath of fresh air because he was not part of the SES establishment and he was at times vocal about it.

I remember Guttman a little, but not much;
Was his first name Charles?
Did he have a nervous tic?
Was he a magistrate?
And did he formerly teach at Dulwich College?
