Mike - you wouldn't be straying off topic here, now would you? :black:

(but what utter F***wit wrote that tosh? Which particular cult? I imagine Celia has some interesting accounts of the Sydney SOP's views on breastfeeding in the 1970s and 80s. But things have changed - I know some SES mothers who breast-fed children to age four).

Good on them. However my own rels DID wean earlyish (well before 12 months). The claim was that the children selfweaned (but both of them?). Also feeding was done in another room, the mother always excluded herself. Again there was an, apparently legit, excuse why, baby (both of them?) was "easily distracted".

This of course does not explain the pursed lips I would sometimes see as I fed mine whilst continuing a conversation at family gatherings.

But like GB, am interested to know which group is espousing what Mike posted.

Were your relatives prudish about breast tissue before joining the school, ADG, or is it a (semi) recent development?

Did she not want to show her boobs beforehand, or did she not have a boob problem, and now she does? Did it come up beforehand?

The one who wrote it and even told mothers they could feed babies honey, because he said he had lived in Roman times as well, was L Ron Hubbard.

Would indeed be interesting what Celia has to say on her SOP experiences vis-a-vis this subject.

I hasten to add that I am sure things have changed in this regard as I was a baby almost 30 years ago.

However, those who followed what I stated earlier are now leaders.

I have no idea who weaned much too early and who didn't (aside from my parents) but it's just that if people can believe in things like that, what else can they believe in? And what are they teaching current newer members?

"It has been said that all of Western philosophy is a footnote to Plato."

oh God. It hasn't been said by anyone but the SES.
Attended Parts 1,2, & 3 and a Plato study group in the NY adult school 2004 - 2005. Also explored advaita philosphy in other organizations since 1995, and continue to do so.
From my post on the thread How can we achieve Truth & Reconciliation:

Quote" b) they are still unable to confront their parents who are now quite elderly and have devoted their lives to a belief structure"

Anita I much admire your calm approach. `As you say from personal experience: the 'oldies' can take it, though it hurts,
rather than have their children live under a facade of being dutiful & loving children, while pain is left unspoken. It may take time.

Your dialogue on this topic made me quite angry at first 'What about us??
out here in the penal colony? Well, it is up to us, though your contributions to the St James' enquiry must flow through to anyone here having the luck to find this forum. Thanks for leading the way. To ex & current (hope?)
SOP Sydney - I echo our notorious tourism campaign - Where the b.h. are you???
The reasoned approach may not however be the answer. If you havn't
already (and there are many SES/SOP whom I am sure will have searched on):
Look at Quantum Physics. We are moving away from Newtonian Principles, The Age of Reason which began in the Renaissance, and establishing Renaissance revival schools will not bring it back. Our children
have been born into a different world; the 70s generation have suffered for it, (Victorian principles were mentioned somewhere). 'Whatever prevents Love, causes pain'.

Forgive the esoterics. Celia R NB This does not mean 'do nothing!!
I really mean that, where are you? Maybe leading quiet lives & having forgotten most of it perhaps you could tell us how - but if you are on this forum has it helped?
Take heart Celia R, some of us ARE around. Trouble is that most of us from the 70's are soooo computer illiterate that we don't ever access the internet, let alone this site. I know -- every ex Schoolie of a certain age that I have mentioned this site to shows interest but no comprehension -- hence they never write.

Besides ... Anthony Renshaw is aware of all of this and because he is intelligent and sensitive to the way that things now stand, will not do anything to jepordise the standing of the Sydney school, let alone his teaching position.

Can't say the same about JMJ in Melbourne though. Speaking of which, the Melbourne School is having an 'Open Day' in early April. Anyone interested should pop along and 'exchange viewpoints'. Bring plenty of red wine, the men drink it by the gallon -- the finer the better just like BigMac.

It's all so funny really ... first of all they accumulate all this Reneisance Foundation money ... 'to wake up the world'. Now they are threatened with huge law suits for ummm ..'past errors of judgements'. Never would have happened if those London ego maniacs hadn't 'gone for the money'.
The whole thing is like a huge pyramid scheme ... you need suckers at the bottom end to support the 'illuminati' at the top.

You and I both know that they know little more than we do.

ps is Mavro still at Undercliffe st Neutral Bay ??
the Melbourne school(s)

Postby ross nolan » Sat Apr 08, 2006 12:36 am

Can anyone shed light on the history of the Melbourne "school" - in particular when was it established and how has it managed to finish up occupying prestigious buildings like the Royal Society and various public premises ?

Is there any remaining connection to the Georgist league (last known of in a small shopfront in hardware lane in the city )?

When was Latham house used as a meeting place ?

Why have all previous investigations into it been stymied ? (I have become aware of some previous episodes of disquiet and looking into the organization that were blocked )

I was just perusing the Sydney primary school's website - I notice NONE of the teachers nor the principal or vice, actually have teaching qualifications as their degree.

They're teaching qualifications are all 'grad dips'. (to non aussies that is 1 year of study in education AFTER another degree has been done.)

Yes very common in high school for teaching specialised subjects (eg. science degree, then grad dip, then teach science), but for primary school, to not have a single, properly trained fully 4 year degreed teacher on staff...
